Arc Flash Monitoring

Arc fault protection for the fast clearance of arcing faults on BUS bars & within metal clad switchgear & associated cable boxes. The arc is detected using an optical sensor & the signal input to a protection device which alsomonitors the load current on the system.

A trip signal can be achieved in less than 10msusing arc detection only or within 15ms when using overcurrent check. This is considerably faster than a traditional IDMT overcurrent relay & provides additional protection from the onset of arcing faults with relatively low fault currents.
  • 1A54 Station Alarm Panel

The 1A54 is a station alarm panel which can be supplied with either 4, 8 or 16 alarm points. Each alarm point comprises a status input, red LED alarm indicator & a minimum of one repeat output contact. In addition to the 4, 8 or 16 alarm points, front mounted push buttons & status inputs are provided for alarm acknowledge & reset. A single common output contact is provided for…
  • 1S20 Arc Flash Monitor – 3 point sensors / 2 zones

Medium voltage switchgear is a key element in the power supply chain. Existing protection systems operate effectively under most circumstances, but they are too slow to handle arcing short circuits. Arcing faults can occur as a result of insulation breakdown due to equipment age & / or poor maintenance. The degree of damage caused by arcing depends principally on the duration of the arc. If an arc lasts only 100ms,…
  • 1S23 Arc Flash Module – 2 point sensors / 1 zone

Arc fault protection is a relatively new technique employed for the fast clearance of arcing faults on BUS bars and within metal clad switchgear and associated cable boxes. The arc is detected using an optical sensor and the signal input to a protection device which also monitors the load current on the system. A trip signal can be achieved in less than 1ms using arc detection only or within 15ms…
  • 1S24 Arc Flash Monitor – 16 point or 12 point + 2 linear sensors / up to 16 zones

Arc fault protection is a relatively new technique employed for the clearance of arcing faults on low voltage panels, MCC’s, BUS bars and within metal clad switchgear and associated cable boxes. Conventional current based protection techniques are at times challenged by the nature of arcing faults, and can result in slow protection clearance times. Slow protection clearance times increase the risk to nearby personnel and increase the degree of damage…
  • 1S25 Arc Flash Monitor – 8 point sensors / 4 zones

Arc fault protection is a relatively new technique employed for the fast clearance of arcing faults on BUS bars & within metal clad switchgear & associated cable boxes. The arc is detected using an optical sensor & the signal input to a protection device which also monitors the load current on the system. When an arc fault start current is coincident with a signal from the optical sensor a trip…

Arc fault protection is a relatively new technique employed for the fast clearance of arcing faults on BUS bars & within metal clad switchgear & associated cable boxes. The arc is detected using an optical sensor & the signal input to a protection device which also monitors the load current on the system. A trip signal can be achieved in less than 10ms using arc detection only or within 15ms…
  • 1S30 Optical Arc Fault Point Sensor

The 1S30 is an optical sensor that responds to the flash of light emitted during the incidence of an arcing fault. Onset of the light flash & detection by the 1S30 occurs in a few ms. Each arc fault sensor consists of one or two silicon PIN photodiode light detectors mounted on a circuit board together withan associated detection circuit. The detector monitors a wide space angle.and provides aAbroad spectral…
  • 1S40 Optical Arc Fault Linear Sensor

The 1S40 is an optical sensor that is used to transmit the flash of light emitted during the incidence of an arcing fault back to an arc fault monitor such that detection of arcing faults can be achieved in as little as a few ms. The 1S40 linear sensor may be applied to protect large volumes where multiple point sensors would otherwise be required. A separate 1S40 linear sensor is…
  • Delta 1S27 Arc Flash Monitor – 4 point + 1 linear sensor / 3 zones

Utilised in either new installations or as a simple retrofit in existing installations, the 1S27 provides high speed detection and signalling of arc flash hazards for application in air insulated metalclad switchgear. Arc Fault protection schemes may be implemented on an Arc only basis, or alternatively a Current Check may be employed where additional security is warranted. A current checked scheme may be implemented by making use of available protection…
